Founded in 1944, the Universidad Veracruzana (University of Veracruz) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the medium city of Xalapa (population range of 250,000-499,999 inhabitants), Veracruz. This institution also has branch campuses in Veracruz, Boca del Río, Orizaba, Córdoba, Nogales, Ciudad Mendoza, Ixtaczoquitlán, Poza Rica, Tuxpan, Coatzacoalcos, Minatitlán and Acayucan. Officially recognized by the Secretaría de Educación Pública, Mexico (Secretariat of Public Education of Mexico), Universidad Veracruzana (UV) is a very large-sized (¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ enrollment range: over-50,000 students) coeducational Mexican higher education institution. Universidad Veracruzana (UV) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor's degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation), bachelor's degrees, master's degrees and doctorate degrees in several areas of study.
