The Athens Student Center is a pioneering architectural endeavor by a new generation of architects, challenging the traditional facade-centric approach to Athenian buildings. This distinctive architectural project won first prize in a nationwide architectural competition in 1959. The building occupies an entire city block bordered by Patision, Evg. Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) provides a wide range of study abroad opportunities through its active participation in the Erasmus Programme since 1987. The university has been fostering cooperation with European Union (EU) universities, businesses, and international organizations by facilitating the mobility of students, teaching, and administrative staff through partnerships.
Over the years, AUEB has signed more than 185 Erasmus+ inter-institutional agreements. As a result, approximately 300 Greek students annually have the opportunity to study abroad with full academic recognition using the ECTS Credit Transfer and Accumulation System, while 320 international students from partner institutions come to AUEB for their studies. Furthermore, each year, 80 AUEB students undertake internships abroad through the Erasmus+ Programme. In the past two decades, over 5,000 students have participated in the Erasmus Programme at AUEB. Approximately 3,000 AUEB students have attended courses at EU partner institutions, and another 2,000 European students have spent a semester or a full academic year at AUEB, making the AUEB Erasmus Programme one of the strongest-per-capita Erasmus Programmes in Greece.
AUEB has been part of the Erasmus Community since 1987, contributing to outbound student study mobility at partner institutions in the EU and facilitating inbound mobility of international students through the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) for academic recognition. Under Erasmus+, AUEB collaborates with more than 220 universities from both EU and non-EU countries. In the 34 years of the programme's implementation, over 12,000 students have participated, with almost 7,000 AUEB students completing an Erasmus+ period at partner institutions, and nearly 5,000 international students attending courses taught in English at AUEB for either one semester or a full academic year.
The university supports outgoing students through grants for strong academic performance, acknowledging their achievements. The consistent growth in both inbound and outbound student mobility each year contributes positively to the program's future development. AUEB also facilitates placements for students in EU companies and organizations, with the number of students utilizing the Erasmus+ Programme for placements increasing annually, spanning all three study cycles. Additionally, AUEB organizes short-duration Erasmus Teaching Assignments for its teaching staff and provides training mobility opportunities for its administrative and teaching staff.
