Established in 1990, the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sports of the Slovak Republic (Ministerstvo kolstva, vedy, výskumu a portu Slovenskej republiky) is a government ministry responsible for the development and implementation of policies related to education, science, research and sports in the country. Its main tasks include:
- Developing and implementing policies related to pre-university education, vocational training and higher education.
- Overseeing and managing public schools, universities and research centers.
- Supporting and promoting scientific research and innovation.
- Developing policies and initiatives related to sports activities and programs.
The Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sports is committed to ensuring that all Slovak citizens have access to quality education and training opportunities, as well as opportunities for scientific research and sports activities. It seeks to promote the development of a skilled and knowledgeable workforce, as well as the advancement of scientific research and innovation in the country. Additionally, the Ministry may collaborate with other government agencies and organizations to achieve these goals, including the Ministry of Health and the Slovak Olympic Committee.
