Founded in 1910, the Negros Oriental State University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the small city of Dumaguete City (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Central Visayas. This institution also has branch campuses in Bais City, Guihulngan, Mabinay, Pamplona, Siaton and City of Bayawan.
